Cyber-Clean, your new cleaning, er, goo
A couple of days ago I went to PIKOM’s PC Fair 2009 at KL Convention Centre, and stumbled up upon a weird product that looks like some sort of goo. Blob. Whatever it is. Comes in both yellow and blue, moist, squishy, and smelly. Okay, smells like some sort of dishwashing soap actually.
This Swiss product is Cyber-Clean, which it’s main purpose is to clean up your electronic gadgets or the interiors of your car. All you need to do is just press this goo-thing on your device, then peel it away. Then your devices should be clean. The thing works by a simple principle, which the blob, whenever pressed, will follow the shape of the things underneath it. Whatever comes in contact with this blob will be picked away, leaving the surface clean.
Having seen this in Low Yat stores before, and the feeling that my keyboard needs cleaning, I decided to give it a try. Using it was a breeze; just press and peel. Only that if I pressed too hard, some of the goo will get stuck in the wrong place, so peeling was a bit tougher. But in normal cases, there won’t be any problems. But how clean is it actually? Well all those dust, hairs, and dead skins were no longer there. My speakers even got a nice new look. But if you got some liquid-related dirtiness, in my case, my oily fingers and the rather high humidity here, doesn’t get out, stubbornly. Good thing that my keyboard is waterproof, which means a little abuse with water won’t damage the keyboard, which also means that I can wash this keyboard.
And yeah, if you want to give it a try, clean up your stuffs a bit first, so your blob won’t deplete too fast (it’s reusable). Don’t expect it can handle a thick chunk of dust though, like the ones found behind fan blades; this thing is meant for lightly dusted areas only. Use it to finish to jobs in hard to reach areas instead.
For a bloodily cheap cleaning blob (I got mine for RM13), I’d say it’s quite good.
