Manual Virus Removal Tools
In this computer world, malware attacks seems to be inevitable. Some viruses were very stubborn, that sometimes you just need to get rid of them on your own effort. This article won’t teach you how to get rid of them, but lists some useful tools that will aid you in your quest to delete a virus manually.

Process Explorer is a software by SysInternals (now owned by Microsoft) which can be used as a replacement for Task Manager. It even provides extra info for the expert users, but at least for the unexperienced, this can be used whenever your Task Manager is disabled by any means. Which means you can kill processes associated to the malware.
Remove Restriction Tools (RRT)
This tool is used to remove registries that prevent you from accessing the important stuffs required for virus removal (as well as many everyday tasks). However, it’s best used after you get rid of the virus first.
There’s a few drawbacks of this software, however. First the personal edition has a few limitations of its own, such as the inability to use AutoRemove. Second is the annoyance of opening it’s official webpage everytime you open and close the program. You might have to bear with the awkward English, since the programmer is likely an Arab. Apart from that, it does the job quite effectively.
TrendMicro™ HijackThis™

A very useful tool for removing unwanted registry values. It doesn’t detect viruses for you, but rather, it scans the most important parts of your computer. You can generate a logfile after scanning, which you can analyze it yourself, or rather, have someone else to analyze it. If you happen to be infected by a virus, and need some online help, posting the logfile would likely help them identify your problem.
xplorer² lite

Originally I used this software to gain some access to certain directories in a Cyber Cafe near Wangsa Maju, just to grab my COD4 multiplayer save files. The software is actually an alternative to Windows Explorer, and may bypass some restrictions done on Windows Explorer, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Best of all, it’s portable. It’s very easy to use; it’s almost similar to the very familiar Windows Explorer, and comes with extra features. There’s also a pro version, but the lite version already proves useful enough.
Hopefully this article would be a help for you =)
