About

Hello World!

Hi there! I’m known online as sharif-strike, although I do have several aliases throughout the net. You can simply call me sharif, or just SS. And yeah, I’m the sole author of this blog.

Background

I’m actually half-Malay and half-Chinese, but I just consider myself as Malay. I used to live around around Selangor, Malaysia, but now I’m living in Kedah. However, I was raised in Miami until ‘93, but never got any formal education there. Talking about education, I’ve finished high school and is currently a university student in Malaysia. While there’s nothing much interesting about my background, I do serve as my high school’s unofficial technician, doing some repairs and troubleshooting, and the occasional multimedia projects. Some of them were even award winning! (due to the fact there’s almost no competition there)

The Weirdo

Although I do blogging, I actually hate long lines of text. And this is why I chose multimedia, a form of communication which uses graphics and sounds to convey the message, as I comprehend better with this form. Well, I’m currently single. I have a slight disliking of women. Honestly. It’s not that I’m discriminating or frustrated, I just feel uncomfortable among them. So most of the time I’ll avoid them, however, I may seem to be friendly to them at certain times. But don’t flirt me, it won’t work. Putting that aside, I like to drool over new techies, and, given the money, would buy them. Well, I’m not a leprechaun with a pot filled with gold coins, so I would usually resort to what I can afford. And so it applies to photography, my newfound passion. Although I like techies, particularly computers, I hate laptops. To me, they are very screwy, and sacrifices almost every cool feature of a desktop PC just for mobility. And another thing to note: I crave for power, functionality, performance, and quality, rather than mobility and style. That means a big NO for mobile phone cameras, LCD monitors, fancy laptops, and fancy compact digital cameras. I’m going to curse ‘em over and over again if I ever use ‘em.

Present Day

I’m currently a Diploma student, in Computer Science (Multimedia). Apart from my student life, I do free computer repairs (I’ll charge only if it requires some cost), hanging out with friends, gaming, watching movies and anime, do graphic designs, and surfing the internet. If I have a DSLR, I may go out on photography as well.

Computer Specifications

My computer may not be as powerful as yours, but it’s a clone system (custom built). Assembled early 2008, the total cost is about RM3200 (about US$985).

  • abit NF-M2S nForce 405/6100
  • Kingston Value RAM 2GB DDR2-667, two units, 4GB total
  • Zotac 9600GT 512MB GDDR2 AMP! Edition
  • AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Black Edition
  • CoolerMaster Aquagate VIVA
  • A4tech X6-60D Glaser Mouse
  • Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000
  • LG Flatron 17″ CRT monitor
  • CoolerMaster Real Power Plus 460W
  • Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA2 HDD
  • Sony DRU830A DVD-RAM drive
  • Razer Goliathus Standard Speed Edition

At least it can give Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare running smoothly at maximum settings. And maybe Crysis on very high settings at 1024 x 768.
