DirectX 10, on XP?
A few months ago, I’ve found a site that claims to make our wishes true: DirectX 10 for Windows XP.
This is not about the Alky Project, where promises made just to keep us waiting without bearing any fruit. There isn’t any updates to begin with anyways. For me, the Alky Project is long DEAD. For those who don’t know, Microsoft decided not to include DirectX 10 in Windows XP, as an attempt to encourage people to use Vista. Windows XP can only go as far as DirectX 9c, and nowhere beyond that.
Until now.
Videos as your wallpaper: Windows DreamScene
Bored of seeing the same static wallpaper? Want to use your HD videos as your wallpaper? If you happen to have Windows Vista Ultimate, you can do it, with one of Windows Vista Ultimate Extras: DreamScene.
This add-on for Windows makes use of WMV or MPEG videos as your new wallpapers, making things look quite cool you can brag about it. There are websites that offers looping videos just for DreamScene, such as dreamscene.org. You can have a rotating earth, swimming fishes, or even Kung-Fu for your wallpaper! I myself use a game trailer (Tom Clancy’s HAWX) as my wallpaper now. Interesting, huh?
DirectX 11 Announced
With games still yet to use DirectX 10, Microsoft just announced DirectX 11. What does Microsoft has to offer this time? Do we need a new graphics card? Upgrade to Windows 7? Let’s check it out. Read more »
Play!: Frets on Fire

Frets on Fire is a game that is similar to the Guitar Hero franchise, made by Unreal Voodoo for the PC. I’ve been playing this game for a while, and find it quite addictive. Okay, maybe not as great as Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but it’s for the PC (Windows, Linux, and Mac) and it’s free. What? Did I say free? Yes, the game is totally free. Head up to their project website and download it. (According to the wiki, version 1.2.451 is recommended since the latest version is buggy)
Is your PC safe? (part 1)
Many times I’ve stumbled upon a PC which contains lots of malware inside. Lots of people complain that their PCs are getting slow and shows weird symptoms. When I do some inspection, I often find that these people didn’t get the safety protocol right. No antivirus, outdated virus definitions, didn’t update the operating system, no anti-spyware, etc. etc.
